A distinguished professor at Coppin State University in Baltimore, Dr. Christian is author of Black Saga: A Chronology of the African American Experience. His other published works focus on public policy issues related to the African American and other minority populations and their respective communities, according to Larry E. Adams of MBWML.
His presentation will address “Your Role in the American Experience,” said Adams.
“His thesis is that we are American history,” he said. “Each of useach familyhas a story to tell, and how we transmit that story to progeny represents our contribution to the saga of the American Experience. By reviewing the histories of select individuals, he hopes to offer a template for adding your own story to the flow of American history.”
Much of his research has been the basis for improving the quality of living for minority populations.
From Black Saga, he developed a competition that has been adopted by more than 160 schools in Maryland and Virginia as a learning activity to help elementary and middle school students learn about the African American experience, said Adams. The competition has won numerous awards, including the National Education Association’s Carter G. Woodson Award.
