After trailing by as much as 10 points early in the third quarter, Rappahannock outscored Lancaster by eight points last Thursday to take the lead and hand the Lady Red Devils their first loss in Northern Neck District play.

The Raiderettes got by host Lancaster, 50-47, and the Lady Devils fell to 13-3 overall and 3-1 in the district.
Lancaster was scheduled to play Northumberland earlier this week and will begin its second trek through district play tomorrow (January 28) at Colonial Beach.
Lancaster led by one point after a close opening quarter, then took a 10-point lead late in the second before ending the half up 30-22.
The Raiderettes had tied the contest midway through the second quarter, but the Devils put up seven unanswered points to regain the lead.
Rappahannock came back strong again in the third with a 17-9 run that tied the game at 39 to end the quarter.
Harmony Smith, who led all scorers with 29 points, put up nine of Rappahannock’s 11 points in the fourth for the win.
Aaliyah Morris-Lee scored 11 points and Shamerah Taylor and Trenae Henderson had six each to lead the Devils.
Despite the loss, Lancaster remains in the top 10 on the Associated Press’ Group A poll and was ranked eighth in this week’s poll with 25 points.
In the JV game, Rappahannock overcame a first-quarter deficit and held Lancaster scoreless in the second quarter to take the lead for good.
The Raiders outscored the host Lady Devils 9-0 in the second quarter and went on to win, 32-19.
Zykeia Bullock scored 13 points to lead Lancaster and Tess Thomas added four points. Thomas did all of her scoring in the fourth quarter when she scored four of Lancaster’s seven points.
Bullock accounted for all six of the Lady Devils’ points in the third quarter.
