Ty’s Friends hold 16th annual Christmas Party

Ty’s Friends held its 16th Christmas party December 21. The annual party was held at The Beacon in Topping. The party was well attended by individuals from the Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board day programs, CSB group homes, Charterhouse, Community Options, Discovery programs, Healthy Families, Youth and Family Services, Turning Point and CBS apartment programs, said founder/coordinator Tyrell Nickens.

Individuals from Heart Havens group homes, Lancashire Convalescent and Rehab Center, Dominion Youth Services, Lancaster County Special Education and others from their individual community homes also attended the party, said Nickens.
The holiday celebration was made possible by contributions from individuals, families, businesses, Morattico Baptist Church, Kilmarnock Seventh Day Adventist Church, Northumberland County Democratic Party, Northumberland County Union Riders Motorcycle Club, Real Recognize Real Motorcycle Club, Kilmarnock Pizza Hut, White Stone River Market, Dunn Rite Auto Sales, Rehoboth Church worship members, Rappahannock General Hospital employees and physicians, he said.
The party included food, music, dancing, interacting together and gift giving. Ty’s Friends Group distributed more than 2,500 individual gifts, and complete holiday meal donations to four families, said Nickens.
The gifts came from community sponsors, Angel sponsorships, family adoptions and gifts left at gift distribution sites such as Dunn Rite Auto Sales and Mane Creations Hair Salon, he said.
Party food was prepared and served by Marie Beale Owens, Solita Beale, Shelia Palmer, Shirley Palmer, Pamela M. Robinson, Tychier Young, Phyllis Hudnall, Pheletra Hudnall, Taymesha Hudnall, Irvin Nickens, Phyllis D. Nickens, Taisha Peters, Ashley Peters, Jennifer Pugh, Connie George, Thomas Robinson, Kendra G. Burrell and Marcus Ferguson, said Nickens.
Dance music was provided by Deejay Lil Pap Robinson, he said.
