Coach Thomas’ passion for crew began at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, where he rowed for legendary coach Charlie Butt. He then rowed for four years at Rutgers University.

Coach Thomas comes to Christchurch School from Bishop Eustace Prep in Pennsauken, N.J., where he coached the Crusaders for three years, two as head coach.

Prior to coaching in New Jersey, he was a lawyer and partner in the Northern Virginia law firm of Fagelson Schonberger Payne & Deichmeister, where he worked primarily in the real estate development field. In addition to coaching, Thomas will work in the school’s development office.

“I am excited about the growth and performance potential of the rowing program at Christchurch School and I am thrilled to be a part of the Great Journeys focus that is the foundation of the Christchurch School curriculum. Our home training takes place on Urbanna Creek, a beautiful stretch of water for learning about rowing and the river. Our boathouse and creek access are provided through the generous support of the Rosegill Farm owners and for this we are truly thankful and blessed. Now, let’s go blue!”
