Highland drumming will be featured at the annual Burns supper and concert. From left are Reed Johnson, drum sergeant John Friday and Christopher Taylor.

The occasion celebrates the January 25th birthday of Scotland’s National Bard, Robert Burns, said Neal A. Smart. Before and after dinner entertainment will feature Highland music by the band’s pipes, drums and friends.

The traditional toasts to the crown and the presidency will be followed by the toast to the lasses, “their always humorous reply, and the toast to the immortal memory of Robert Burns,” said Smart.

While mixers and light snacks are provided, guests are invited to bring their own beverages, appetizers and refreshments if they wish. The menu will include typical Scottish fare and there will be haggis for the traditionalist and the adventurous.

Tickets remain $35 each and are on sale at Chesapeake Bank in Kilmarnock; the Bank of Lancaster main branch in Kilmarnock and White Stone branch; and The Local in Irvington.

Proceeds go to aid the band in its mission of furthering interest in Highland piping and drumming.
