polar plunge Feb. 2

Melrose United Methodist Church will sponsor the “Lewisetta Polar Bear Plunge” February 2

The “Freezen’ for a Reason” will take place snow or shine at Lewistta “Beach” adjacent to Lewistta Marina, said Kim Reid of Lottsburg. Plunge day check-in/registration will begin at 11 a.m. and the plunge starts at noon.`

Participants must complete a registration form as well as a liability waiver; parents or legal guardians must be present with their children. Participants raise funds through sponsors.`

Some 50% of the proceeds will benefit the Melrose UMC Mission Trip Fund, 25% will go to the Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad and 25% will go to the Callao Volunteer Fire Department.`

Participants may plunge on behalf of another church, in which case 25% would go to the church designated by the participant on the registration form, 25% to Melrose UMC, 25% to the rescue squad and 25% to the fire department.`
