Favazza has directed and acted in community theater in Missouri, Texas and White Stone. His directing credits include “Look Homeward Angel,” “House at Pooh Corner,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “The Screwtape Letters,” and co-directing “Mary Poppins” at the Lancaster Playhouse with Robin Blake, said Kerley LeBoeuf. His most recent acting roles include Freddy Benson in “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” and Otto Oberkugen in “In the Good Old Summertime.”

“The joy of community theater is the broad participation of the people in the area,” said Favazza. “Since reopening The Lancaster Players in late 2007, nine different people have directed the 16 adult productions in the playhouse. While several of our directors have professional theater backgrounds, three people have directed their first play on our stage.

“And, there are the opportunities to get under the lights,” he continued. “Over 70 adults have been in these productions during the last five years. Some of them had never acted, others had not been on stage since high school and a few have acted professionally on stage and in movies. We invite anyone to join us, whether on stage, back stage or helping with any of the dozens of jobs needed to deliver theater. It’s fun and rewarding.”

He is the executive director of the Northern Neck Family YMCA.

The next production of The Lancaster Players is “How the Other Half Loves” by Alan Ayckbourn and directed by Rebecca Tebbs Nunn. A cast of six will portray three couples who attend two dinner parties given on different nights and a theater set that represents two living/dining rooms at once.

Auditions for this comedy will be held at 7 p.m. January 8 and 9 at The Lancaster Playhouse in White Stone. The play will be presented March 8 through 24.

Other productions for 2013 will include “SUDS – The Rocking 60’s Musical Soap Opera” in June, directed by Robin Blake, and “Becky’s New Car” in October, directed by Randal Tyler. Visit, or call 435-3776.
