Paintings and music by Jeremy R. Adams will be featured Saturday at A-Ibañez Museum Gallery. The event will include open mike for writers and musicians.

Adams began painting in oils about two years ago, shortly after moving to the Northern Neck from Richmond. Already a self-taught musician and poet, he has added the visual arts to his story-telling, said event coordinator Denise DeVries.

“All his work is woven together from his philosophy and life experiences,” said DeVries.

Artist and gallery owner Alvaro Ibañez will present Adams’s work to the public for the first time at A-Ibañez Museum Gallery. The event is free.

“I am happy to be able to encourage Jeremy’s unique creativity,” said Ibañez

Adams will be joined by Richmond musicians R. Ashby Zehmer, Jeremy Bragg and Jonathan T. Powell. Their performances will be followed by an open mike for writers and musicians.

“Numerous tragic and wondrous moments have formed this life! If I could go back in time, I wouldn’t change a thing,” said Adams. “That which happens to us makes us who we are … I am an artist.”

“People of all ages are welcome and will find something to enjoy here,” said Ibañez.

The gallery is just outside Kilmarnock near Hughlett Point Natural Area Preserve. For directions, call 435-2880, or visit a-ibanez.org.
