Tartans rule the day

by Audrey Thomasson

The annual Kirking of the Tartan ceremony is a Scottish-American tradition of blessing the tartan and by extension, the clans and families. It is a symbol of loyalty, steadfast faith and rugged individualism that is celebrated at Historic Christ Church in May.

The event includes the St. Andrews Color Guard of Williamsburg, the Kilmarnock and District Pipe Band and the Grace Episcopal Church Choir.
