Curtis Brizendine, Randy Crittenden, Bill Duvall, Mike Nicely and Daniel Clarke of Rappahannock Crossing get together from the Northern Neck and the Middle Peninsula to create and share their bluegrass chords, strummin’ and rhythms. Southern Bred shows off the talents of Robert Townsend, Trent Jones, Larry Lewis, Murphy Bailey and Doug Kemp performing southern/classical rock and country music.
Among other fair events, the Southern Barnyard Runners Pig Races are scheduled at 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Friday is Seniors Morning. Seniors can check out the Memorial Exhibit Hall where crafts and demonstrations are happening, and get riding tours of the fairgrounds, all starting at 10 a.m.
Friday evening’s music starts off with sounds of the classic pop tunes, oldies, and alternative hits, and perhaps will include some children’s tunes with The Tender based in Ashland. The band voted ‘Best Richmond Country Band’ in June 2012 by Style Magazine readers, Andy Vaughan & The Driveline, are on stage next with original country music.
Saturday’s music includes The Dixie Power Trio of Fredericksburg and Ashley Forrest with Detour Band of Crofton, Md.
While at the fair August 20-24, sample the good food, try out Bingo, a corn hole contest or carnival rides, and see what’s happening at the fair this year.
