Fair weather meant a good weekend for fishing both Friday and Saturday but Biddlecomb waited until the last hour of the competition to bring in his winning 49.2-pound rockfish.

Biddlecomb’s catch and Carr’s second-place 45.2-pound catch were heavier than any fish weighed in at any previous Reedville fishing derby, reported Smith Point Sea Rescue president Capt. Andy Kauders.

Also placing among the top 10 were Christopher Webb at 41.8 pounds, Allen Palmer at 41.1 pounds, George McNeal at 40.4 pounds, Palmer again at 39.7 pounds, Captain Danny Crabbe at 36.9 pounds, Webb again at 36.6 pounds, George Lichtenbergen at 36.4 pounds and Nathan Martin at 35.3 pounds.

Proceeds from the event support Smith Point Sea Rescue.
