Local bands include Ottoman, Salty Dawgs With Faith and Legacy. Regional performers will include Parker Arnold, VooDoo Dolls, Force of Habit and Tim Morgan.

Admission is $10 per person. Food, sodas and adult beverages will be available for purchases, and 50% of the profits from these sales will go to the Independence Fund, which provides services for veterans. Guests cannot bring their own beverages into the concert.

“There are five different missions for the Independence Fund,” said Karen B. Knull of Yankee Point Marina. “We are concentrating upon the one which provides adaptive wheel chairs for combat wounded amputees.”

One veteran is flying in from California, another from Connecticut, and a third from North Carolina, said Knull. They will all be speaking at the concert. These veterans have very interesting stories to tell about their experiences and about the Independence Fund.

Come by car or boat. Slips are available free for the day for those attending the concert, on a space available basis, said Knull. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the day.

“Help us show these courageous young men that the Northern Neck is very proud of them by attending the concert,” she said.

In October, Yankee Point Marina will sponsor the “Race for Independence,” a sailing regatta to benefit the Independence Fund (see sports page).
