Kilmarnock Museum News

The Kilmarnock Museum’s latest exhibit will highlight artifacts, photos and other memorabilia from past Kilmarnock carnivals. Included are handmade “Wheel of Fortune” wheels, Bingo prizes and raffle tickets dating from 1941 when the prize was a 1941 Ford sedan.

Exhibits also include 1936 Bingo cards with corn for markers like those used at the Bingo stand for many years, nostalgic news clippings and posters. The display will continue through August 31.

Museum volunteers will man a table at the carnival each night with displays and books, postcards and DVDs for sale including “The Good Old Northern Neck,” the museum’s newest production. Taken from 8mm silent film, the DVD depicts scenes of the 1952 Kilmarnock fire and of Lancaster County’s Tri-Centennial events, including the crowing of the queen and the parade.
