Little League baseball will take on an international flavor August 8 at Dream Fields, 1385 Irvington Road, Kilmarnock, as the Saitama City All Stars from Japan take on the Lancaster County All Stars and the Richmond City All Stars Major boys teams simultaneously.

This will be the sixth appearance in Kilmarnock for the Far East team that has 34 players on their roster, said promoter Carroll Lee Ashburn. It will mark the first time that they will play two teams at the same time.

The cultural exchange program with Saitama City and Richmond expanded to include Kilmarnock in 2002 and has continued every other year since, said Ashburn.

The Lancaster County All Stars won the first encounter in 2002, 8-5. However, Saitama has dominated ever since and is favored to win this year, he said.

The last time (2012) that the teams met, Lancaster jumped to an early 2-0 lead, but Saitama prevailed with a final score of 13 to 2, said Ashburn.

The Lancaster team is managed by Matt Stamm with coaches Tim Wohleking and Mike Antonio. Game time is 11 a.m.
