The two-day Rumble Invitational tournament includes Lancaster, Essex, Middlesex, West Point and Caroline. The Lady Devils will play in the opening game at 4 p.m. tomorrow, September 11. Matches follow at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Action continues Saturday, September 12, with pool play matches at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The championship match follows.

“We hope this is going to be an annual event,” said LHS coach Dave Zeiler. “We’re looking forward to hosting this tournament every year.”

Lancaster lost its first two matches of the season, 3-0 and 3-1, to Northampton on the Eastern Shore last week. Despite the losses, Zeiler said his young team has promise.

“We’re young and inexperienced, but I think we’ll get better with every match and by the end of the season gearing up for the tournaments,” he said.

Zeiler returns only five including senior hitters, Le’Aria Kelley, Caroline Merryman and Brook Reed,  junior hitter Ellie Hyde and senior setter Kyndall James. Merryman, Kelley, Hyde and sophomore hitters Kalin Benza and Tyler Martin give the Devils height on the front line.

Also hitting this season is sophomore Lindsey Brocklebank. Setting with James will be junior Skylar Dixon, while junior Nancy McClain and sophomore Haley Pease will play the back row. Reed will also play libero, rotating on and off the court.
