Nelson leads LHS golfers

Taylor Woolard, playing in the number three spot, pulled out a low score of 38 on nine holes at Piankatank River Golf Course last Thursday to help Lancaster’s golf team beat Middlesex, 185-192.

Alex Nelson shot a 43 for the Devils, while Sheridan Ford had a 49 and Jacob Hudnall a 55. Jamie Coates also played for the Devils but his score did not count.

Chris Blake shot a 45, Mason Duke a 46 and Greg Pitts a 47 to lead the Chargers. Luke Landon added a 54.

Larkin Gross shot a 70 and Carter Morgan a 75 on 18 holes to lead Essex to a low team score of 343 to win a four-team match at Quinton Oaks Golf Course on August 21.

Rappahannock was second with a 345 and was led by Lance Wheeler with a 73 and Brandon Whaley with an 85.

The Devils finished third with a team score of 353. Nelson shot the low score of 74 with Ford turning in an 84 and Woolard an 86. Hudnall shot a 109 for the fourth score. Tanner Steensma’s score did not count in team scoring.

Josh Lang shot an 87 and Paul Lamb a 94 to lead Northumberland, which finished fourth with a team score of 381. Trent Newsome had a 99 and Cody Weight shot a 101.

The Devils are back on the links at Hobbs Hole Golf Course in Tappahannock on Tuesday, September 9, when they play a nine-hole match against Essex.
