The child was found unharmed at approximately 1:30 p.m. today (Friday, October 23) and was returned to his parents, according to Kilmarnock Police Department officer Ann Phelps.

According to Phelps, the boy's mother reported him as a runaway after he left Lancaster Middle School around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kilmarnock Police officers searched for the boy throughout the night.

"A kid that runs away like that is normally recovered within a couple of hours," said Phelps. "But this wasn't the case."
