Lancaster advances to semifinal

Andrea White scored 36 points to lead four double digit scorers as Lancaster cruised to an 85-45 win over Buckingham County in a girls Group A Division 2 quarterfinal game Saturday at the Siegel Center in Richmond.

The Lady Devils advance to the state semifinal game at 9 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at the VCU Siegel Center. Lancaster will play Lee County, a 62-54 quarterfinal winner over Glenvar.

Lancaster took a 31-9 lead over the Region B runner-up and led by 26 points at the half in the quarterfinal blow-out. The Lady Devils connected on 20-of-33 field goals in the first half for a 49-26 lead.

Lancaster forced 25 turnovers by the Lady Knights and hit 9-of-14 or 63 percent of its free throws in the rout. 

Ashley Ransome chipped in 14 points for Lancaster, Jasmine Moody scored 13 and Shamerah Taylor 12. 

Shamika Woodson led the Lady Knights with 14 points.
