Northumberland defeats Middlesex 5-4

Northumberland defeated Middlesex, 5-4, on Wednesday, June 2, to advance to the finals of the Region A varsity baseball tournament.

Northumberland will play in the championship game on Friday, June 4 at 5 p.m. at the winner of the Rappahannock versus Nandua semifinal. That game will be played today (June 3) at 5 p.m. at Rappahannock High School.

The Raiders defeated Sussex, 9-0, and Nandua edged West Point, 8-7, in quarterfinal games.

With a berth in the Region A final, Northumberland will automatically advance to next week's Group A state tournament. The quarterfinals will be held at the site of the higher seeds and the semifinals and finals will be at Radford University.
