In honor of the RGH Volunteer Auxiliary, the hospital held its 33rd annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon April 23 at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club, said marketing and public relations coordinator Casey Bush.

The luncheon opened with a social provided by the hospital medical staff and Rappahannock General Hospital presented a gift to each volunteer, said Bush.

Auxiliary president Linda Cales welcomed everyone to the luncheon and the Auxiliary Prayer was lead by secretary Dee Wise.  Treasurer Shirley Pitman presented a check to hospital president  and chief executive officer James N. Holmes Jr., said Bush. The donation represented proceeds from a combination of auxiliary activities including the hospital gift shop, the Tree of Life program, Lifeline, and other fund-raisers.

Holmes thanked the volunteers for their dedication, service, and loyalty.  The 107 volunteers were commended for 16,519.75 hours of service. The auxiliary has volunteered a total of 655,989.16 hours since the hospital opened in 1977, said Holmes. He thanked them for the generous donation, which will be used towards patient care at RGH.

The auxiliary also thanked the community for supporting them through its numerous fund-raisers including Pizza Hut “We work for tips” and jewelry sales.  To volunteer, call 435-8546 to join the auxiliary.
