Stingrays complete season
of swimming competition

After losing by 13 points to West Point in the final regular season meet, Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club’s (ICYCC) Stingrays edged the Dolphins four days later to finish third among four teams in the season-ending championship meet at Tappahannock July 19.

The Stingrays had lost to West Point, Urbanna and Tappahannock during the regular season, but edged West Point by six points in last week’s championship. West Point had beat ICYCC 307-294 on July 15 in the final regular meet of the season.
The Urbanna Barracudas won the Middle Peninsula Swim League championship with 240 points. The host RiverRats were second with 159 points, ICYCC third with 138 and West Point fourth with 132.
The Stingrays were coached this season by Liz Seigler and included 73 swimmers.
Swimming for ICYCC were kickboarders Grace Jett, Ella Posey, Mckynzi Dawson, Oceana Diaz, Allison Foulkes, Rebecca Meberg, Lilly Penrod, Carina Bednarzyk, Evie Allen, Gavin Jett, Creston Saunders, Jackson Latell, Kaya Penrod, Alex Posey, DJ Zeiler, Will Biddlecomb and Wesley Butler.
Swimmers, 8-years-and-under, were Amanda Steensma, Blair Smith, Madison Giese, Katarina Zeiler, Adair Stanley, Elizabeth Stanley, Grace Oren, Kayla Oren, Ashtyn Franklin, Olivia Saunders, Katelin Seaver, Lewis Tompkins, Grant Biddlecomb, John Vail, Andrew Fulmer, Matthew Kelley, Erik Harding and Eli Pittman.
Swimmers, ages 9 and 10, were Caroline Summers, Emma McManus, Latney Hodges, Rachel Valdrighi, Millie Tompkins, Logan Jowers, Virginia DeMario, Hanna Harding, Harrison Tompkins, Davis Biddlecomb and Blake Smith.
Swimmers, ages 11 and 12, were Hannah Stout, Francesca Wilson, Wells Young, Tabitha Foulkes, Madison Loftiss, Zoe Nonnemacker and Erik Demario.
Swimmers, ages 13 and 14, were Kate Nelson, Christina Bagnell, Nadia Moss, Abby Nelson, Sarah Schindler, Skylar Dixon, Kalin Benza, Drew Smith, Brandon Benza, John Richardson, Colie Schomer and Avery Shivers.
Swimmers, 15 and up, were Hannah Richardson, Cheyenne Seaver, Graham Shivers, Weston Schomer, Nick Nonnemacker, Shawn Valdrighi, Matthew Keane and Ronnie Cutler.
