Miss Stephens crowned
Queen of the Holly Realm

Miss Jocelyn Maguire Stephens of Irvington was crowned Queen of the Holly Realm December 28, 2007. Over 500 guests were in attendance as 23 Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula area debutantes were presented at the 112th Annual Holly Ball.

The event was held at the Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club near Kilmarnock.

Sen. John H. Chichester, orator for the gala event, crowned Miss Stephens with the traditional crown worn by past queens. She succeeds Miss Lacie Marie Deihl of Reedville, the daughter of Lt. Col. and Mrs. Montgomery Carter Deihl of Reedville.

Miss Stephens is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Wood Stephens of Irvington. She was presented by her father and was escorted by Charles Landon Clark of White Stone.

Miss Stephens chose as her attendants Miss Alanna Rhiannon Jenkins, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Van Jenkins of Wake, and Miss Kylie Brooke Robbins, the daughter of Capt. and Mrs. Leo Stoneham Robbins of White Stone. Randolph Wood Stephens Jr. of Irvington escorted Miss Jenkins, and Steven Kyle Pittman of Lancaster escorted Miss Robbins.

Ammon Gresham Dunton Jr. was master of ceremonies. Ushers for the event were Samuel Somers of White Stone, Joel Hudnall of Kilmarnock, Sam Haynie of Reedville and Brady Haynie of Kilmarnock.

Holly Ball debutantes for 2007

The debutantes were Miss Ann Elizabeth Carpenter, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Herbert Carpenter of Irvington, presented by her father and escorted by Rudolph Prosser Crowther III of Reedville; Miss Clare Randolph Clements, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Sterling Clements of Warsaw, presented by her father and escorted by Jared Taylor Gammon of Aylett; Miss Margaret Anne Cox, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Frederick Cox of Richmond, presented by her father and escorted by Nicholas William Gorman of Richmond; and Miss Amanda Dawn Dreylick, the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Robert Lacey of White Stone, presented by her father and escorted by Justin Garrett Guthrie of Weems.

Also, Miss Caitlin Rebecca Hall, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Anthony Hall of Burgess, presented by her father and escorted by Emory Carl Rice IV of Reedville; Miss Lauren Adair Harrow, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Carter Harrow of Deltaville, presented by her father and escorted by Gary Ryan Williams of Urbanna; Miss Brittany Lauren Jefferson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dameron Jefferson of Lancaster, presented by her father and escorted by Patrick Randall Oliver of Lancaster; and Miss Afton Elizabeth Jenkins, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Fairbanks Jenkins Jr. of Warsaw, presented by her father and escorted by Earl Grayson Packett of Warsaw.

Also, Miss Emily Anne Webb, the daughter of Thomas Hawthorne Webb and Mrs. Joanne Alston Fary Webb both of Gloucester, presented by her father and escorted by Chad Everett Anglin of Gloucester; and Miss Anne Randolph Wilkins, the daughter Mrs. Martha Beale Wilkins and the late Randolph Doulin Wilkins of Montross, presented by her uncle, Otis Michael Crowther of White Stone, and escorted by Joshua David Luebke of Montross.

Proceeds from the Holly Ball are dispersed by The Tidewater Foundation to charitable organizations supporting education and youth in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. Last year, $26,000 was distributed.
