Winter Wonderland

+ A | - A

Holiday lights glowed under a blanket of snow Friday evening when an early winter storm moved across the state. Snow accumulations of nearly two feet were reported in the western part of Virginia, while nearby Caroline County received 16 inches of snow. The Northern Neck received between three and five inches of snow Friday night before it tapered off after midnight and turned to rain. The area received a mix of rain, sleet and freezing rain most of the day Saturday and weather forecasters predicted the precipitation would turn back into snow late Saturday evening and bring another four to eight inches to the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
